IHC approves bail of Sheikh Rashid, orders for his immediate release

ISLAMABAD, Feb 16 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has approved bail of former interior minister Sheikh Rashid against the surety bonds in the sum of Rs 50000 besides ordering to release him forthwith.

The case came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani here Thursday.

Suleman Akram counsel for Sheikh Rashid and Advocate General (AG) Islamabad appeared before the court.

The court inquired during the hearing of the case what allegation has been leveled against Sheikh Rashid. Is  there any statement on any news channel.

The counsel for Sheikh Rashid told the court yes he gave a statement which was broadcast  on  news channels.

Barrister Suleman Akram Raja counsel for Sheikh Rashid apprised the court of the details of the allegations against Sheikh Rashid. There is nothing  such like in the evidence that it may lead to any clash between PTI and PPP.

Advocate General (AG) Islamabad Jahangir Jadoon told the court Sheikh Rashid is a senior politician. His talk should be parliamentary.  Who are in government today  will be in opposition tomorrow. All talk in the same accent. All is non-parliamentary.

The people burst into laughter on these remarks of advocate general.

Sheikh Rashid hurled abuses on interior minister and Bilawal Bhutto.

The  counsel for Sheikh Rashid told the court this is not the case what the advocate general is stating.

The investigation officer told the court the details of statement of Sheikh Rashid were obtained from PEMRA. Sheikh Rashid gave statement he obtained these information from Imran Khan. Case is registered against Sheikh Rashid in Aabpara police station. Sheikh Rashid is in jail at present on judicial remand.

Advocate General told the court if he does not repeat this offence and give undertaking then court should see it.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked we will have to start training from the curriculum of primary class.

The court accepted the bail plea of Sheikh Rashid against the surety bonds worth  Rs 50000 and ordered to release him immediately.
