PM visits earthquake affected areas in Turkiye

PM hands over relief items sent by Pakistan for earthquake victims to Turk authorities in Adiyaman

ADIYAMAN (Online): As part of his solidarity visit to Türkiye, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited Adiyaman, one of the worst earthquake-hit cities, today. Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was received by

Mehmet Mus, Minister of Trade, Adil Karaismailoglu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mahmut Çuhadar, Governor Adiyaman and other high ranking officials.

Chairperson Pakistan-Turkiye Friendship Group in the Turkish Parliament, Ali Sahin accompanied the Prime Minister to Adiyaman from Ankara.

The Prime Minister handed over relief consignment of winterized tents to Turkish authorities, arriving by a C-130 aircraft from Pakistan. The ceremony was followed by a detailed briefing by the Turkish Disaster Relief Authority, AFAD on the ongoing rescue and relief activities. Appreciating the resilience of the Turkish nation, Prime Minister stated that with “traditional Turkish spirit of overcoming all obstacles and defeating all challenges, the Turkish nation will emerge out of this natural calamity stronger than ever.” He added that Turkiye will always find Pakistan by its side.

Later , the Prime Minister visited various parts of the Adiyaman city and interacted with Pakistani Search & Rescue teams who are carrying out search and rescue operations in the area. The Prime Minister praised their dedication and professionalism and stressed that Pakistan will continue playing an active part in rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also interacted with the survivors of the earthquake who thanked him for Pakistan’s steadfast and resolute support to Türkiye as well as for the effective role played by Pakistani rescue teams in saving lives.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who is in Turkiye has handed over relief items sent by Pakistan for earthquake victims to the Turk authorities in Adiyaman.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister once again assured all out support to the Turkish people in this hour of difficulty. He said we will be sending more winterized tents to Turkiye.
