Live-stock backbone of province economy which gets a boost during the ancient mela
SIBI (6 AM Report): Additional Chief Secretary Home Balochistan Zahid Saleem has said that the centuries-old historic Sibi Mela will start with the colorful celebrations March 3, 2023.
Talking to a media house here on Thursday at the DIG House Sibi, he said that it is of great interest to the public in which maximum participation of people is a matter of pride for us, adding that Balochistan government is utilizing all resources for the successful organization of Sibi Mela. He said that the arrangements are satisfactory. DIG Office Sibi, and the police team presented a guard of honor, participated in the important meeting regarding the security arrangements of Sibi Tablighi Ijtamah and Sibi Mela.
After making important decisions regarding safety, the site of the mega event of Sibi Mela, including the assembly hall, was also inspected and an aerial survey was also conducted by helicopter.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the livestock sector is the backbone of Balochistan and the annual historical and cultural fair of Sibi draws great interest to the people of the country including Balochistan.
He said that it is also a means of promoting economic activities as 80% of the population of Balochistan is dependent on herding.
He said that the development of the livestock sector guarantees the prosperity of the rural population and progress in the country’s economy, adding that the holding of the mela dates back to ancient times.
He said that Sibi Mela is a happy celebration for the workers, cattle breeders and businessmen of the country, in which thousands of cattle are bought, sold and traded. The herding sector is the backbone of the country’s economy and all of us have to use our skills to celebrate the festival in a grand manner.
The purpose of coming to Sibi was to review the security arrangements of Sibi annual three-day preaching gathering and the preparations and security of historical and cultural fair, he said.
In order to further enhance the economic aspect of the fair and to further improve the initiatives for participation of maximum number of people, the events of the fair will be celebrated from 3rd March to 5th March 2023 in a grand manner so that people from all over the country can participate in the events of the fair, he added.
He was of the view that the Provincial Government is playing a positive role in improving the quality of life of the people by living within its resources and providing them opportunities to enjoy such a successful mega event.
