Consul General Iran visits Gwadar

GWADAR (6 AM Report): Iranian Consul General Hasan Golivand Darwish, posted in Quetta, met Director General GDA Mujibur Rehman Qambrani at his office on the occasion of his visit to Gwadar.

The Director General gave a detailed briefing to the Consul General about Gwadar and informed about the implementation of the Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan and the development projects involved in it.

The Director General said that the supply of 100MW of additional electricity by Iran is a reflection of the strong friendship between the neighboring Islamic brother countries.

He said that GDA has provided all basic facilities in Gwadar including water, education, health, roads, sports fields, parks, international airport, while getting electricity from Iran. He said that under the master plan, they are establishing a central business district consisting of 25 hundred acres of land i.e. downtown and an industrial zone consisting of 20 thousand acres. With the completion of which, Gwadar will become an international economic and tourist city at the global level, which will not only guarantee the prosperity of the country but also the region.

Appreciating the development of Gwadar and the projects in the master plan, the Consul General said that the development and prosperity of Gwadar is in the interest of both the countries.

“We are trying to increase the annual trade volume with Pakistan from one and a half billion dollars to five billion dollars. Iran is interested in projects to generate energy from natural sources, in which a plan to generate 300 megawatts of electricity from solar energy is under consideration,” he added.

In the meeting, it was agreed to exchange delegations to highlight business, tourism, cultural links between Chabahar and Gwadar.
