NGOs have an important role to play in raising quality of life: Governor Jamali
QUETTA (6 AM Report): Acting Governor Balochistan Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali has said that in raising the quality of life of the poor and needy people in the society and making them benefit from education, health and clean water facilities, government institutions as well as various international organizations and the national level NGOs also have a key role.
He said that in this regard, they are playing an important role in promoting welfare activities, helping children deprived of education, ensuring health facilities and providing basic facilities to the people of remote areas of the country and province.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation consisting of representatives of various NGOs under the leadership of Syed Shahid Kazmi, head of Pakistan Humanitarian Forum, at Balochistan House in the federal capital, Islamabad.
The Acting Governor of Balochistan said that the people-friendly role played in relief and rehabilitation activities in Balochistan due to the catastrophic flood rains is worthy of praise.
He said that the majority of the people in the areas affected by the flood rains are still suffering from many problems. He said that there is an urgent need for the help and guidance of all international and national institutions in the construction and rehabilitation stages.
He also assured all possible cooperation from the government to solve the problems highlighted by the delegation and to provide them access to the people and to protect the representatives of NGOs.
