Students should contribute to improvement of society with their knowledge, skills: Governor Punjab
LAHORE (PR): Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman attended the 24th Convocation of University of Management and Technology at Expo Center Lahore today as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Punjab while congratulating the graduating students of UMT said that their teachers, parents, teamwork and many people around had important role in their success, so they should thank them especially their parents and teachers.
While addressing the students, he said that your university has provided you with a conducive environment and a commendable education system.
Governor Punjab while advising the graduates said that along with the degree, good character, clear vision, strong will, moral values and patience are also needed the most in order to succeed in life.
He also emphasized that the graduating students should show tolerance and respect for every human being. Governor Punjab further said that the students should contribute to the improvement of the society with their knowledge and skills.
Addressing the convocation, Provincial Local Government Minister Ibrahim Hasan Murad said that the dedication and hard work of teachers and students played an important role in the success of UMT. He advised the graduates to be custodians of the values of justice and discipline and to serve society and nation by passing them on to the next generation.
Earlier, Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza while addressing the convocation highlighted the various achievements of UMT and praised the vision of Dr. Hassan Soheib Murad (Late). Dr. Asif Raza lauded the leadership, faculty and management of UMT who played a key role in making UMT a leading private sector university in Pakistan and one of the top 600 universities globally. A total of 1389 graduates were awarded degrees in various fields in the convocation. According to the details, 827 Bachelors, 126 Masters, 405 MS/ MPhil and 31 PhD degrees were awarded, Additionally, 13 Patron’s Gold Medals, 12 Rector’s Silver Medals, 02 Rector’s Academic Excellence Awards Gold Medals, 01 Certificate of Excellence. , 01 UMT Best Teacher Award with 100,000 cash prize., 08 UMT Best School Teacher Awards with 25,000 cash prize each, 07 University Level Best Researcher Awards, 07 School Level Best Researcher Awards and 08 Research Publication. Awards were given to MS/MPhil students.
On this occasion, a special souvenir was presented to Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman on behalf of the institution.
Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza, DGU UMT Abid Sherwani and Registrar UMT Salim Atta, teachers, students and their parents were also present on this convocation.
