Healthcare Commission to be established in Balochistan: CS

QUETTA (6 AM Report): Chief Secretary Balochistan Abdul Aziz Uqaili on Monday has said that a health care commission will be established in Balochistan.
“For the better care of hospitals, different models will be seen along with the current mainstream health care model, in this regard, in collaboration with all stakeholders. Going forward, vacancies in the education department will be appointed on merit, all possible measures will be taken for the safety of passengers and safe travel, and strict action will be taken against negligent drivers,” he expressed these views while addressing various meetings on Monday.
Chief Secretary Uqaili said that instructions had been issued to take strict action against buses and drivers who do not have valid licenses to ensure the safety of passengers, adding that FIRs would be lodged and cases would be pursued for suspension of route permit of the bus service concerned.
“We are studying the impact on health professional and peripheral alliance on the availability/performance of doctors and staff. It will also cover whether contract employment has helped in improving the presence of doctors and the delivery of health care services. PPP, autonomous healthcare hospitals/institutions, have decided to study on semi-autonomous model,” he said and added that moving forward with the firm belief that Balochistan’s problems could be solved through public-private partnerships.
He added that the way forward is being decided with all the stakeholders, adding, “We are setting up a healthcare commission in Balochistan.
The Secretary of Health is directed to propose a model for improving health care services through supportive supervision. Suggestions are welcome,” he said.
