QUETTA (6 AM Report): Chief Secretary Balochistan Abdul Aziz Uqaili has said that along with the curricular activities, the student’s mindset is improved through co-curricular activities, which is a good initiative and it is very important to have a healthy mind for the formation of a healthy society, which can only be achieved by promoting sports.
He said this while addressing a ceremony of Balochistan Games here on Tuesday, adding that if the young generation is given good sports opportunities and environment, not only they can become good citizens but also can make the name of the province and the country bright in the whole world.
He said that the government has included sports in its priorities to create a healthy and active society, adding that the provincial government will include more development projects in the PSDP for the promotion of sports and this time the sports budget will also be increased.
He said that if the players are provided with proper facilities and also encouraged, many talented players can come forward and make the country famous. He said that there is a need to activate the sports department and bring capable and hardworking youth forward. “Sportsmen are the capital of the country. A good sportsperson is a role model for the younger generation, who inspires many young people to avoid bad company and engage in healthy activities,” he said and added that Balochistan is a peaceful province and the people of the province are sports lovers.
“Recently, the provincial government organized an exhibition match of the PSL and will try to organize the matches in Quetta in the ninth edition of the PSL,” Uqaili said, adding that the provincial government would fully support such healthy activities in the future.
On this occasion, Secretary Sports Ishaque Jamali said that thousands of athletes participated in more than 40 sports in the All Balochistan Games and organized divisional level games in the first phase.
