Provincial govt fully aware of hawkers problems, steps taken to resolve them: Mitha

QUETTA (6 AM Report): Provincial Information Adviser Mitha Khan Kakar has said that the provincial government is fully aware of the problems of newspaper vendors and is taking serious steps to solve them.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday during a ceremony in which motorcycles were distributed to hawkers from the Hawkers Welfare Fund at Directorate of Public Relations Office, he said that to solve their financial problems, steps are being taken for proper utilization of hawkers welfare fund and distribution of funds to deserving hawkers.
He said that it has been a few weeks since he took charge of the Department of Information, but he is determined to take measures on an urgent basis to develop the Department of Public Relations on modern lines so that the Department of Public Relations is aligned with modern requirements and modern technology.
Secretary Information Hamza Shafqat, Director General Public Relations Balochistan Kamran Asad, President of Officers Welfare Association Inayat Rahman, media representatives and a large number of hawkers were present on this occasion. In his address at the event, Information Secretary Hamza Shafaqat said that the provincial government is aware of the problems of hawkers related to the newspaper industry, adding that Hawkers Welfare Fund is an important step taken by the Government of Balochistan towards the welfare and financial problems of hawkers. He further said that concrete steps are being taken to develop the information department on modern lines, adding that a comprehensive plan had been formulated for the development of the IT sector and the installation of FM radio will further help in the promotion and publicity of government projects.
He informed that with the help of the World Bank, the information cell would also be activated soon.
On this occasion, DGPR Kamran Asad said that hawkers are the middle class associated with the newspaper industry and steps have already been taken for their rehabilitation and welfare and their support will continue even now.
