QUETTA (6 AM Report): Balochistan Food Minister Zamarak Khan Achakzai has on Saturday said that the wheat crisis is not only prevails in Balochistan but in the whole country.
“For the purchase of two lakh sacks of wheat from Punjab, Rs. 2 billion have been paid but wheat has not been received yet,” Achakzai said and added that PASCO should give wheat to Balochistan that is imported from Russia for an immediate end of the crises.
Achakzai further said that the annual requirement of wheat in Balochistan is 100 million sacks, while the food department buys one million sacks every year, and if there is a wheat crisis, it is provided to the wheat market due to the lack of complete procurement of wheat last year.
“There was a wheat crisis in the province. And at the moment there are only 40,000 sacks of wheat in the warehouses of the Food Department. We hope that our purchased wheat will reach Balochistan soon,” the Food Minister added.
