“Textbook Shortages and Poor Quality Control Plague Balochistan’s Education System”

QUETTA (UNA): The Balochistan Textbook Board has come under scrutiny for its alleged inefficiency and poor quality control as reports reveal that government school textbooks have not reached several districts, including Quetta.
The issue came to light when students returned to school for the new academic year, only to find that the textbooks they were promised were missing. During the last few days, it has been revealed that the textbooks that did reach the schools had been published with fewer pages than the standard, affecting students’ education.
It has been learnt through sources who didn’t want to be named that the Urdu book for Class V had only 144 pages instead of the usual 160, with three lessons excluded in the 2023 edition.
Parents and teachers have expressed their concern and anger at the alleged incompetence of the Balochistan Textbook Board, which has resulted in students being left without the necessary materials to learn.
The government has promised to investigate the matter and hold those responsible for the textbook shortages and quality control issues accountable.
However, when authorities at Textbook Board were reached, no one was available to respond to allegations.
The development highlights the challenges faced by the education system in Balochistan, where poverty, lack of infrastructure, and security challenges have hindered the province’s progress.
The government must take immediate steps to rectify the situation and ensure that students receive a quality education.
