QUETTA (6 AM Report): With the arrival of Ramadan, prices of various commodities in Quetta have increased by 35 to 40 percent, causing distress among the citizens.
Shopkeepers attribute the increase in prices to inflation and the rise in the dollar rate. Even before Ramadan, inflation had already risen in Quetta. The prices of special spices have surged to Rs. 1600, Biryani spices to Rs. 1000, Pakora spices to Rs. 800, and mixed spices to Rs. 760 per kilogram. The increase in prices of daily use items has further exacerbated the situation.
Shopkeepers have reported that the increase in rates at the wholesale market and the rise in the dollar rate have led to the increase in prices of commodities.
Meanwhile, citizens are demanding that the Price Control Committee be activated to reduce the rate of inflation.
