QUETTA (6 AM Report): Senior Secretary of the central committee of Pashtunkhwa Mili Awami Party (PkMAP), Qadir Agha Advocate, and the provincial president, Nasrullah Khan Zaray, have called for immediate measures to overcome the financial crisis of the province’s universities, warning that the education system may collapse if the issue is not addressed.
The leaders of the PkMAP have assured their full support to the demands of the teachers, employees, and students of the universities. These concerns were expressed by PkMAP leaders during a meeting with a joint action committee, led by Professor Dr. Kaleemullah Bareech, at the University of Balochistan, along with the registrar of the university, Dr. Zahid Rauf, and a delegation of faculty and administrative staff.
Also present at the meeting were Provincial Secretary Khushhal Kasi, Provincial Deputy Secretaries Hamdullah Khan Bareech and Qiyas Afghan, and Zonal Organizer of the PkMAP Students Organization, Latif Kakar. The delegations expressed gratitude to Nasrullah Khan Zaray for his support in tabling the issue of the universities’ financial crisis in the Balochistan Assembly, and for getting it approved.
The PkMAP leaders reiterated that the education sector is a top priority, and every possible effort will be made to overcome the financial crisis of universities, so that the problems of the teachers, students, and employees can be addressed, and their suffering and restlessness can be minimized. They also mentioned the long-standing demands, which include allocating 4% of GDP for education, making the province’s share in the HEC budget, and the regularisation of employees.
