QUETTA (6 AM Report): A statement issued by the Public Relations office of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) on Monday has said that the financial crisis in the universities of Balochistan has reached a critical point, causing significant harm to the education sector.
It further added that the inability to provide salaries and expenses for teachers and employees is threatening the quality of education in the province, adding that without immediate action, Balochistan could face a severe academic and educational crisis in the future.
“The universities of Balochistan have been producing qualified PhD teachers and researchers who provide education to young students according to international standards. However, the current situation could lead to a brain drain of talent, hurting both the students and the education sector of Balochistan,” the statement said and added that in response to this crisis, a special meeting of the Deans and Directors Committee of the BUITEMS was held, presided over by Caretaker Vice Chancellor BUITEMS Dr. Abdul Rehman Khan.
The committee agreed to speed up contacts with the provincial and federal governments and take immediate steps to solve this problem. “Balochistan University of Information Technology Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) is working rapidly on the policy of bearing more than 40% of the university’s educational expenses under its own support in its long-term planning.
The university leaders thanked the provincial and federal governments for their support and urged them to prioritize the issue of the financial crisis in Balochistan’s universities,” the handout added.
