1.3 mln acres of area Wheat cultivated in Balochistan

LASBELA (6 AM Report):The positive results of the efforts of the state government and welfare organizations to restore the agricultural sector in Lasbela and Hub districts have started to emerge. Wheat was cultivated on 1.3 million acres of area during Rabi season across Balochistan.

Deputy Director of Agriculture Lasbela Qamar Baloch said in the briefing that after the damages caused to the landowners due to floods and stormy rains, on the direction of the state government, the Department of Agriculture has distributed 84,999 sacks of wheat seeds in Lasbela district and 57, 25 sacks in Hub district and Al-Falah Welfare Foundation has provided 20,000 kg of wheat to the farmers in Bela Tehsil of Lasbela district for free in time for cultivation.

According to official sources, under the revolutionary measures of the Chief Secretary and Chief Minister of Balochistan, a policy was adopted to compensate the losses of the flood-affected landlords during the Rabi season.

According to official sources, in order to overcome the shortage of wheat and the crisis after the flood, the Balochistan government has approved a scheme for free distribution of wheat seeds to more than one lakh farmers of 34 flood-affected districts. The official sources stated that with the approval of the provincial cabinet, 2.2 billion rupees allocated for the agriculture sector rehabilitation project was released.

Timely procurement of 3 lakh 81 thousand sacks of 50 kg wheat bales was completed through transparent tendering process. 4500 sacks of wheat seeds were distributed by the district administration in the flood-affected district of Awaran.
