QUETTA (6 AM Report): Balochistan Assembly held a session to discuss various issues related to the province. The session was presided over by Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali, and members from different parties raised concerns over the non-payment of salaries to teachers and employees of universities in the province.
Nasrullah Khan Zaray, a member of the Pashtun Khawamli Awami Party, presented a warning notice regarding the issue and demanded that the federal government provide a bailout package of 3 billion rupees, while the provincial government should give a bailout package of 2 billion rupees to resolve the problem.
He also suggested increasing the grant of universities to 10 billion rupees. The Provincial Education Minister Mir Naseebullah Marri responded by stating that the universities are suffering from a financial crisis due to non-availability of co-funds and a bailout package was given to University of Balochistan earlier. The members also discussed the establishment of a Federal Constitutional Court to implement the constitution in the country, and opposition leader Malik Sikander Advocate emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of the people according to the constitution. The session ended with members negotiating with protesting teachers outside the assembly and ending the protest.
