QUETTA (6 AM Report): Provincial Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Mir Ziaullah Langau presented a resolution emphasizing the importance of abiding by the Constitution of Pakistan during the session of provincial assembly here on Monday.
According to the details, the Home Minister stated that the Constitution is the supreme document and every institution must respect it, with the Supreme Court of Pakistan holding powers under Article 176 and 184 of the Constitution.
The resolution was presented in the backdrop of controversy surrounding a recent judgment by four judges dismissing suo moto notices while three judges directing the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold elections.
Langau said that decisions are made by the majority, and it is necessary to respect this principle to restore the sanctity of the judiciary.

The resolution also addressed the need for free and fair elections, calling for the holding of national and provincial assembly elections at the same time through the Election Commission of Pakistan and under the supervision of caretaker governments.
Langau expressed concern about the Punjab Supreme Court’s perceived monopoly and stated that holding elections without the results of the census would not be in the country’s interest.
He called for the support of all institutions to fulfill their responsibilities and for political parties to act as ambassadors of the country by refraining from discrediting institutions and tarnishing the country’s prestige for their political interests.
During the session, a motion was presented by BNP member Sana Baloch to extend the census process by two months, emphasizing the importance of counting people in remote areas, including Balochistan, who were displaced due to floods and were not counted in the census.
Provincial Minister Mir Asadullah Baloch supported the resolution, stating that compared to the previous census, this census had been carried out effectively, but there were still areas, particularly in Balochistan, where the process had not been completed.
The resolution to extend the census process was approved, along with the resolution to hold national and provincial assembly elections simultaneously. The meeting addressed concerns regarding the judiciary and the need for transparent and fair elections, with a call for institutions to fulfill their responsibilities and for political parties to act as ambassadors of the country. The resolutions highlight the importance of upholding the Constitution and maintaining the sanctity of institutions to ensure a prosperous and democratic Pakistan.
