Religious Affairs Minister Maulana Abdul Shakoor dies in road accident
President, PM, Balochistan Governor, CM condole death
ISLAMABAD (UNA): Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Maulana Abdul Shakoor on Saturday evening died in a road accident when a vehicle rammed into his car near Secretariat Chowk, police said.
The Police spokesperson said Maulana Abdul Shakoor was heading towards Secretariat Chowk from Marriott near Iftar timings when a Hilux Revo carrying five men hit his car.
Maulana Abdul Shakoor was shifted to Polyclinic Hospital but he could not survive and succumbed to his injuries.
Senior police officers rushed to the scene while the vehicle and occupants have been taken into police custody. Further investigation is underway, police added.
Political leaders have expressed their sorrow over the sad demise and condoled the family members of the deceased.
Meanwhile President Dr. Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shahbaz condole the death of Maulana Abdul Shakoor.
President Dr Arif Alvi also expressed his regret over the death of the federal minister and paid tribute to the deceased’s services for interfaith harmony.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Saturday expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor in an accident.
In his message of condolence, the PM sympathized with the family and associates of Mufti Abdul Shakoor and said the late leader was a practicing religious scholar, an ideological political worker and a pious human being.
Mufti Abdul Shakoor was an active and ideological political leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and as a minister for religious affairs he fulfilled his duties with hard work, sincerity and honesty, he recalled.
He said he was deeply saddened and hurt by the sudden death of his friend, companion and an important member of the cabinet.
The prime minister paid tribute to his religious, patriotic and political services for the nation.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to elevate the departed soul to the highest ranks of Jannah and grant fortitude to the bereaved family.
Pakistan Peoples Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari expressed sorrow over the demise and prayed for the federal minister’s forgiveness. Senator Sherry Rehman said she stands with his family in their time of sorrow.
Governor Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali also expressed condolences on the demise of Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Maulana Abdul Shakoor in traffic accident in the federal capital.
In his condolence message, he expressed deep sorrow and grief on the death of Maulana Abdul Shakoor with his family and party.
He prayed for the exaltation of the ranks of the deceased in the hereafter and patience for his bereaved family.
