$125 million aid provided Pakistan to combat climate change: German Consul General
QUETTA (6 AM Report): German Consul General Rüdiger Lutz, who is currently posted in Pakistan, has emphasized the need for joint efforts to combat climate change, which he describes as a global problem affecting the entire world.
He expressed his concerns that Pakistan, particularly Balochistan, has been severely impacted by the large-scale disasters caused by climate change.
To aid in the recovery efforts, Germany has provided $125 million to the Pakistani government to deal with the disaster. Lutz mentioned that climate change is not just a problem for Pakistan but a global issue, and the world must stand with Pakistan to tackle it.
Lutz also suggested that there should be an exchange of experts dealing with natural disasters at the global level so that the countries facing natural disasters can be trained on the modern basis of the relevant departments. He expressed his willingness to convey this message to the German authorities to provide assistance for the recovery of losses caused by natural disasters in Pakistan.
In addition, Lutz has also offered to provide training for personnel dealing with natural disasters, which would be a significant help for countries like Pakistan. He highlighted the importance of training and noted that if people are trained in foreign countries to deal with natural disasters, it will be easier to deal with floods and other natural disasters in the future.
The German Consul General also made an important announcement regarding the expected monsoon rains in Balochistan. He stated that they have made full preparations to deal with the anticipated weather conditions, and PDMA officers and officials are fully alert in this regard. Furthermore, the DDMA and PDMA staff of the districts have been alerted regarding the rains that started in three districts of Balochistan since last day and are ready to deal with any sudden situation.
The PDMA officials in Balochistan have expressed their gratitude towards the German Consul General for visiting them and sharing his insights. They have also expressed their willingness to receive training and assistance from Germany and other foreign countries to deal with natural disasters effectively.
