Financial problems of UoB increase, employees demand action
QUETTA (6 AM Report): the General Secretary of Joint Action Committee University of Balochistan, Quetta Prof. Fareed Achakzai, along with Nazir Ahmad Lehri and Arslan Ahmed Shah, highlighted the dire financial situation of the University of Balochistan, on Monday.
They said that despite the passing of a resolution by the Balochistan Provincial Assembly and a recommendation by the Provincial Finance Commission to release 38 million rupees for the payment of salaries for three months, the funds have yet to be implemented.
The employees of the university are demanding action to save it from closure and are protesting against the non-responsibility of the provincial government in paying financial grants after the eighteenth amendment. They are urging the government to take responsibility and find a permanent solution to the financial crisis of University of Balochistan, which they claim has only worsened in recent times.
