QUETTA (6 AM Report): Pakistan Flour Mills Association Balochistan Region Chairman Syed Abdul Nasir Agha Badruddin Kakar and Wahid Lala have expressed concern over the customs department’s practice of stopping wheat and flour vehicles at Lak Pass under the guise of an inter-district ban.
They maintain that this is causing problems for the people and leading to blackmailing of traders in Balochistan. The chairman warned that if their demands were not met, there would be a nationwide protest and the flour mills will be closed indefinitely.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, he directed agencies to work together to prevent the smuggling of sugar from border areas across the world, which has been causing shortages and increasing prices. He urged the Balochistan government to lift the inter-district ban on the transportation of wheat, which has caused the flour mills industry to shut down.
He also called for an end to the blocking of wheat-laden vehicles at Lak Pass, which has affected supply in Balochistan. If their demands are not met, there will be a nationwide protest and the flour mills will be closed for an indefinite period.
