QUETTA (6 AM Report): The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) on Monday has announced a nationwide protest movement against the reduction in salaries of media workers and journalists, non-payment, delays, lack of service rules in electronic media, violent arrests of journalists and restrictions on media.

The movement is set to start from May 3rd, International Press Freedom Day, and will involve protest demonstrations, sit-ins, rallies, and even a hunger strike. The PFUJ is calling on all media workers to participate fully in this movement, which they say is a battle for the rights of all journalists and media workers.

The PFUJ has expressed deep concern over the torture and arrests of journalists in recent times, and sees this as a direct attack on press freedom in the country. The union has stated that they will not tolerate any further violations of the rights of journalists and media workers, and will take all necessary steps to ensure their safety and protection.

The nationwide protest movement is expected to put pressure on the government to take action against those responsible for the mistreatment of journalists, as well as to address the other issues facing media workers in the country. The PFUJ is hoping for a positive outcome from this movement, and is calling on all media workers to join in the fight for their rights.
