Mubeen Khilji stresses the need for an inclusive census, enumerating all
Demands extension of census in Quetta by two months
QUETTA (6 AM Report) : The District President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Provincial Minister of Minerals, Mubeen Khan Khilji, has criticized the government for ignoring the public’s wishes regarding the census.
He stated that every citizen of Balochistan, including Quetta, is demanding to be accepted as citizens of the country and to be included in the census.
“Why is the staff ignoring the public’s wishes like this and instead of the census, they are taking steps to complete the house, for which they will protest strongly,” he said in a statement.
Khilji further added that members of the provincial assembly belonging to all the parties in Quetta had unitedly rejected the recent census and decided that until the correct census is done, they will not sit down and protest vigorously. He added that the population of Quetta has decreased under the census plan, and political parties have expressed their concerns.
“The census in the provincial capital Quetta should be extended by two months and conducted again,” he said. “Not only the PTI but also the leaders of all the parties and especially the elected representatives expressed reservations about the recent census.”
Khilji stated that the staff formed by the government did not do its work correctly, due to which, in the coming time, the population of the area will decrease. This is unacceptable, and soon the same parties will strongly protest.
Census plays a critical role in determining the political representation and allocation of resources in a country. The census determines the size of the population, which is essential for calculating the allocation of resources to the provinces and ensuring that the political representation of the area is accurate.
