QUETTA (6 AM Report): During an All Parties Conference under the auspices of the Awami National Party, the Chairman of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Khushal Khan Kakar expressed his disapproval of linking terrorism and Taliban with Pashtuns.
He stated that this linking was unacceptable and went against the country’s constitution and law. Furthermore, he argued that the army’s job was to defend the country, not to rule it, and that its numbers should be reduced in the current economic crisis.
Other leaders who participated in the conference included the co-chairman of PkMAP Mukhtar Khan Yousafzai, senior deputy chairman Raza Muhammad Raza, central general secretary Khurshid Kakaji, and others.
Kakar went on to highlight the main problem facing Pakistan as the governance of the nations and the right governance of the people. He argued that until these problems are solved, Pakistan cannot be brought out of crises. He also criticized the history of military rulers throwing the constitution in the trash and political parties failing to protect it. He called for the political forces to implement Article 6 of the Constitution to prevent anyone from breaking it.
He argued that the army had no constitutional, legal, or moral right to rule and govern the people, nor to exploit the nations. Kakar also expressed his concern over the military’s proposed military operation and various detentions, asking what results they had produced in the past.
He condemned the remarks made by a Pakistani diplomat on linguistic grounds and demanded that the constitution of Pakistan be re-examined to ensure the right of nations to self-determination and people’s rule as per the 1940 resolution.
