Measures being taken for development of fishing industry in Balochistan : Secretary Fisheries

QUETTA (6 AM Report): Secretary Fisheries and Coastal Development Balochistan Hafiz Muhammad Tahir said that measures are being taken for the development of fishing industry in Balochistan.
These views were expressed by Hafiz Muhammad Tahir while talking to fishermen during his visit to Dam Bandar on the coastal belt. He said action is being taken for Prevention of Illegal Trawling in the Coastal Belt through Wire Nets. He stressed that no one will be allowed to poach by illegal traps. “Strict legal action will be taken against anyone caught poaching with illegal traps,” he warns.
He enunciated that the provincial government is trying to protect the employment of the people of the coastal belt and promote the fishing industry.
Tahir added that in 2021, Pakistan exported fish fillets worth $34.8 million which earned it the distinction of being the 55th largest exporter of fish fillets in the world. He assured the fishermen that The Government of Balochistan in consultation with the fishermen is committed to the development of this industry and is planning to raise the quality of life of the fishermen.
Earlier, the Secretary Fisheries and Coastal Development inspected the building of Fisheries Directorate under construction at Othal, the headquarters of Lasbela at a cost of 100 million.
On the occasion of the visit, Director of Fisheries Marine Ahmad Nadeem and Deputy Director Younis Qambrani and Assistant Director of Fisheries Bela Abdul Razzaq Angaria and other officers were present.
