Work on development projects stopped due to non-release of funds: Opposition Leader
Minister Education assures issue of government teachers to be resolved soon; Speaker BA calls for taking steps for improvement in Livestock department
QUETTA (6 AM Report): The leader of Opposition in Balochistan Assembly, Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate has stated that amount of the current financial year’s public sector development programme (PSDP) and the PSDP plus has not been released yet.
He said that the work on development projects are stopped due to non-release of the funds. The Opposition leader raised the point while speaking on budget proposals for the next financial year during the session of Balochistan Assembly on Thursday.
The Speaker, Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali was in the chair.
Malik Sikdanr demanded release of the necessary funds for the development projects. He also proposed to prefer the livestock, water supply and similar other projects in the next financial development programme.
Earlier, the opposition MPA Nasarullah Zairay pointed out towards the issue of hunger strike being observed by the government teachers outside the provincial assembly.
He said that the government teachers are observing hunger strike for their demands as such its notice should be taken.
On this, BNP’s MPA Sanaullah Baloch alleged that bureaucracy is creating hurdle in the summary of demands of government teachers. He demanded of the Minister Education to end the strike of government teachers.
The Education Minister Mir Naseebullah Marri said that the Finance department has objection on the amount of up-gradation of the teachers, however, the issue would be resolved soon.
Referring the protest of the teachers and employees of the public sector universities, the Minister Education said that there is an issue of the salaries in the universities, but ironically, recruitment process is on there. He said that he is surprised that why the issue of salaries in the universities is created all of sudden?
Moreover, on a point of order raised by the MPA Sanaullah Baloch regarding protest of the veterinary doctors outside the provincial assembly, the speaker asked the provincial government to take steps for improvement in the Livestock department.
Earlier, on another point of order, the BNP parliamentary leader, Malik Naseer Shahwani demanded of the house to take notice of killing of a youngster by a security guard.
