ISLAMABAD (Online): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial has remarked if there will be housing society of IB then who competes it.
The CJP gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of SC during hearing of Housing societies forensic audit case here Friday.
He further observed “we have reviewed FIA report. As per report loss of Rs 175 billions occurred. An overall estimate was given in the report but no explanation was sought from the housing societies.
Justice Athar Minallah remarked how can FIA use its name in private business. Is it not clash of interests.
He further remarked grave allegations of illegal occupation of land have been leveled against FIA. IB too is apparently involved in illegal possession of land. The job of these institutions is serving people and not running housing societies.
The CJP remarked if there will be housing society of IB then who l competesit. The matter of government institutions housing societies is not before us. Therefore, a suo moto notice can be taken on this matter separately. We see it either we have to take suo moto notice or otherwise.
CJP remarked it will be better some application comes before us. We are cautious in taking suo moto notice because suo moto notice is aimed at protecting public interest.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
