Over 700 female personnel serving in Police:
QUETTA (6 AM Report): The Governor Balochistan, Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has underlined the need to ensure participation of women in all sectors in the province. However, he noted with pleasure that over 700 women including 15 officers are serving in the police force.
The Governor was addressing the women police conference held under the auspices of UN Women in collaboration with the German Embassy and Balochistan police here at a local hotel on Tuesday. The former Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Ms. Rahila Hameed Durrani, former Senator, Mrs. Roshan Khursheed Bharucha, senior police officers, women police officers and personnel were also present.
The Governor said that the beauty and colour of the society is associated with both men and women, and their combined efforts can guarantee the society free of every kind of exploration. He proposed to set up separate female police stations at the level of division in the province.
The Governor said that it is a good initiative to raise voice for elimination of gender discrimination and for rights and powers of the women.
He said that today’s conscious women are not ready to remain deaf and dumb and just confined to the four walls in the name of parental system.
He observed that generally our women economically depend on the men, this is why they are dependent on the men in all affairs of the life. However, he said that although women are physically different, but they are not inferior then men at all.
The Governor noted with concern that the male who seek their rights and powers from others, but they are not ready to give the same right and authority in their homes.
He also termed the domestic violence and killing of women in the name of honour is the most cowardly act. He made it clear that we were against all kind of violence on women, and would remain. He stressed that it is high time to promote equality and equity in the society. He said that this is a fact that an empowered female can play one’s wholehearted role for securing rights for herself and other women.
In the end Governor stressed the need to run mass awareness campaign for giving due equal status to women in the society and protecting their rights. In this regard, the cooperation of whole team of the Governor House would remain with them, adding he assured.
