Unnecessary expenditures would be curtailed to bring down budget deficit: Domki

Says caretaker PM would be requested for recovery of arrears of around Rs. 87 billion payable against federation on different accounts; financial discipline is important for ensuring free and fair elections

No addition burden to be put on public exchequer:

 

QUETTA (6 AM Report): The caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki has categorically stated that the caretaker government would decrease the unnecessary expenditures to the minimum level in order to bring down the budget deficit.

He pledged that additional burden would not be put on the public exchequer and the spending on the foreign trips, protocol and other heads would be lessened. In addition to this, the caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar would be requested for recovery of the arrears of around Rs. 87 billion payable against the federation on different accounts so as to prepare a clear procedure for acquiring the arrears, which otherwise are outstanding for long.

The caretaker Chief Minister was speaking during briefing conducted on the development and financial matters of the province here on Tuesday. The briefing was conducted by the Planning and Development and Finance departments.

Also present on the occasion were the Chief Secretary, Shakil Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development, Hafiz Abdul Basit and Secretary Finance, Zahid Saleem.

During the briefing, the caretaker Chief Minister briefed about the ongoing development projects included in the PSDP, CPEC projects, foreign funded projects as well as the projects of Gwadar and rehabilitation of the flood affectes areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki said that it is responsibility of the caretaker government to conduct the free and fair elections in peaceful environment. For this, financial discipline has the basic importance, he maintained.

He directed to complete the ongoing development projects within stipulated time. He said that unnecessary delay in completion of the projects increases their costs.

He on the occasion praised the Secretary Finance and his team for the ongoing reform programme in the Finance department.
