Establishment of Information Commission in final stages, maintains Hamza Shafqaat

QUETTA (6 AM Report): The Secretary Information Department, Hamza Shafqaat has stated that the Right to Information Balochistan Act 2021 has been prepared and the establishment of Information Commission is in its final stages.

The Secretary Information was speaking at the closing ceremony of two-day awareness workshop for the public information officers organized by AID Balochistan in collaboration with Information Department here on Wednesday.

He said that access to information is the basic element of any democratic society. He said that under the RTI Act, any citizen of the province has the right to acquire information from any department or institution. While the provincial departments and institutions would be bound to provide the required information to the applicants under the relevant law, he maintained.

The Secretary Information appreciated the efforts of AID Balochistan for creating awareness among the general public about RTI law and imparting training to the public information officers.

Meanwhile, he distributed certificates among participants of the workshop.

Earlier, the master trainer of workshop, Mir Behram Lehri, Mir Behram Baloch, Muhammad Asif, Syed Raza Ali, Rana Ahsan and Horain talking about different aspects of the RTI Balochistan Act.

The Executive Director Adil Jahangir praised the efforts of Secretary Information for formation of the Information Commission in the province.

It may be mentioned here that public information officers and other concerned staff of 13 departments participated in the workshop.
