Caretaker CM stresses need to control critical situation of MMR in Balochistan
QUETTA (6AM Report): The caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki has expressed his concern over the highest maternal mortality ratio (MMR) during delivery process in the province than other provinces.
He noted with concern that the ratio of maternal mortality is highest in the province than other provinces of the country.
He said that it is no less than a big challenge to provide healthcare facilities to the population, which is otherwise scattered in the vast area of province.
The caretaker Chief Minister was speaking to the representative of World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Palitha Mahila who called on him here at the Chief Minister’s secretariat on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, caretaker Chief Minister appreciated cooperation of the WHO in health sector in the province saying that it (WHO) has always cooperated to the provincial government in health sector, which is appreciable.
He said that the facts and figures show that ratio of maternal mortality is highest in Balochistan as compared to other provinces.
He stressed that we have to control the situation with mutual cooperation. He said that the approval would be taken from the cabinet after seeking opinion of the Law department for reporting of material mortality rate during delivery.
In addition to this, the caretaker Chief Minister vowed to make every possible efforts to achieve the target of routine immunization in the province.
He assured that provincial government would extend every possible cooperation to WHO in its programmes.
