PPP writes letter to Chairman demanding Senate Session

ISLAMABAD (PPI): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has written a letter to the Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on the matter of a requisition rejected by the Senate.

This move comes in the wake of a requisition submitted by PPP calling for a session of the Senate to discuss pressing economic issues, including poverty, inflation, and unemployment, which have been plaguing the nation.

However, the Senate secretariat instead of calling the session turned down the request on the plea that five members of the requisition have withdrawn their names.

In total, 28 senators had signed the requisition, and the withdrawal of signatures by five members would reduce the number to 23, falling short of the one-fourth members required to requisition the session.

On the other hand, PPP’s Senator Taj Haider voiced concerns and sought clarification on the matter of the requisition.

Taj Haider wrote a letter to the Chairman asking the Senate Secretariat for the names of the five members who had not been told. The letter highlighted that the Senate Secretariat had reported that five members had withdrawn their signatures from the requisition submitted by the PPP.

However, the names of these individuals have not been disclosed to the PPP, despite repeated requests for this information.

Furthermore, the letter raised questions about the process by which these members purportedly withdrew their signatures. It asked whether these individuals had formally requested the Senate Secretariat in writing to retract their support for the requisition.
