Rights of minorities in Pakistan well protected as compared to India: Khalil George
ISLAMABAD (PPI): Caretaker Federal Minister for Human Rights Khalil George has said that rights of minorities in Pakistan are well protected as compared to India where religious minorities were under attack and state was direct involved in human right violations.
In interaction with PTV news on Wednesday, he said that the government of Pakistan had always taken several measures to protect the rights of people from all minorities, including Christians, Sikhs, Hindus and Parsis, and would ensure a secure environment for them in future as well.
“Pakistan will move forward according to teachings of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, who called for peace and brotherhood among all religions” he added.
Khalil George reminded that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in his speech on August 11, 1947, gave a clear message about the equality of rights of minorities.
He said people of all religions in the country had equal constitutional and political rights, and they were allowed to take part in all fields of life.
Replying a question, he said Indian government had proven themselves unwilling to protect minority religious communities and other vulnerable groups from frequent attack, adding, the Narendra Modi regime was promoting the Hindutva ideology to harassed Muslims and other minorities.
The minister urged UN to take practical steps and asked Indian government for protecting rights of minorities.
