ISLAMABAD (Online): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa expressed annoyance over Additional Advocate General (AAG) Punjab Sana Ullah Zahid and government officers in the matter of land compensation.

Sana Ullah Zahid expressed intention to tender resignation over court’s attitude.

Justice Athar Minallah controlled the matter remarking government officers don’t work and AG Punjab despite being a good lawyer became disturbed due to them.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa took up the case for hearing Thursday.

During the hearing of the case Justice Athar Minallah remarked the court had issued order one year back.

The CJP remarked we and you are paid salaries out of people pockets. Our performance is nil. There should be some difference between the dacoits and state.

Justice Athar Minallah remarked we are being told after one year the process of payment of compensation is underway.

The CJP remarked there should be transparent attitude with the courts. Joking with justice system should stop.

The court said the court issued order on November 17, 2022. The counsel for Punjab government said a miscellaneous application has been filed.

Reply from member board of revenue Punjab was filed. Punjab government accepted the  ownership of land by Bashiran Bibi. It was said to pay compensation from March 26, 1990. Ownership about construction of district complex on the land of Bashiran Bibi was accepted. The question was this how much compensation will be given to Bashiran Bibi on the construction of district complex. When government accepts the ownership of an individual then it is beyond comprehension why the compensation was not paid.

Some officers from Lahore were sent to SC that they have been sent by member.

We questioned from them why they have come. No reply was given. The objective of government is to serve the people. Using the word Sahb with the name of member shows mindset. The use of word Sahb for government employees in government offices implies ruling. No such clause exists in the constitution.

The SC stopped from using the word Sahb for government officers remarking this word indicates slavery.

The court further said compensation be paid to Bashiran Bibi till next hearing. If compensation is not given then member Punjab department will be summoned in person.

The court while giving the time of 60 days for resolution of problem adjourned the hearing of the case.
