ISLAMABAD (Online): Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) operation against the suspects involved in handi quoting continues across the country, during the last 6 weeks, 172 raids were conducted against the elements involved in the illegal exchange of hawala hundi and currency.

According to the FIA, 170 cases were registered and 239 accused were arrested while 26 inquiries were also completed. Faisalabad zone arrested 21 accused, Multan zone arrested 19 accused.
Islamabad zone arrested 11, Karachi zone 22, Hyderabad and Baluchistan zone 13, 13 suspects were arrested.
According to FIA, a total of domestic and foreign currency worth more than 66 crore 16 rupees were recovered during the raids. 45.68 million Pakistani rupees are also included in the exported currency.
Several plazas and shops were also sealed during the nationwide raids.
The spokesperson of FIA said that the assistance of law enforcement agencies was also obtained for the arrest of the accused while the arrested accused were involved in currency exchange without license.
Special raiding teams have been formed under the supervision of Deputy Directors in the concerned circles of FIA and on the special instructions of Director General FIA Mohsin Hasan Butt, all resources are being used to arrest the accused. Intelligence-based operations continue to receive support from other agencies.
