QESCO crackdown against power pilferers & defaulters continues; 380 FIRs registered so far

QUETTA (6 AM Report): In all 327 more electricity connections of the defaulters were removed and 16 transformers removed during the crackdown continued against the defaulters and pilferers all over the province including Quetta.

The spokesman of QESCO informed that at least 5304 power connections have so been found involved in the power pilferage in the province while 1277 applications have been submitted against the pilferers in the police stations and Levies thanas.

Out of them, 380 FIRs have been registered against the power pilferers in the province as yet, the spokesman informed.

He said that aggregately Rs. 73 crore have so far been recovered on account of the pilfering and arrears of the electricity utility bills.

Over 64 crore rupees have been recovered from some 23,000 defaulters of the bills, he mentioned adding that over 9 crore have been recovered on account of the fine charged to the power pilferers.
