QUETTA (6 AM Report): The Mangi dam project is due to be completed by June 2024. This project would meet almost 80 percent requirement of clean drink water supplying 8.1 million gallons of water on the daily basis.
This was announced by the caretaker Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering and Population Welfare, Sardar Ejaz Ahmed Khan Jaffar while speaking on occasion of the inspection of Mangi dam project on Thursday.
Also present on the occasion were Project Director of Mangi dam, Zarak Khan and other concerned high ups.
Speaking on the occasion, caretaker Minister said that Mangi dam is very important project. As the Quetta city has been facing water shortage issue, therefore, we are well aware about it, and in this regard, necessary steps would be taken to resolve it at every level.
The Minister on the occasion strictly directed the officers to mobilize all available resources for ensuring timely completion of the project maintaining quality of work.
In this context, no negligence and carelessness would be tolerated, adding he asserted.
Sardar Ejaz Jaffar said that it is not merely important to build dams, but it is also necessary to care them in future.
Moreover, the caretaker Minister held meeting with the Secretary PHE regarding matters about Mangi dam including supply line of electricity from Harnai, SNE and other related ones.
Earlier, Project Director of Mangi dam also briefed the Minister about the project.
He informed that the project had been started in 2017 with mutual partnership between federal and provincial governments costing Rs. 13247.00 millions.
Zarak Khan further informed that 72 percent work on the project has been completed.
