ISLAMABAD (ANN): Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday heard a request of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and other lawyers seeking meeting with incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan in privacy.

The court ordered that a meeting between the PTI founder and the chairman should be held under the supervision of the Superintendent of Adiala Jail.

Additional Attorney General and the Adiala Jail Superintendent appeared before the court.

Consultation is the fundamental right of politicians ahead of the general elections and the caretaker government should remain neutral in this regard, the judge remarking, saying the opposition to such consultations raises questions about the impartiality of the caretaker government.

Lawyer Shoaib Shaheen said that consultation is required for the distribution of 700 tickets of the PTI.

On this, the judge said that it is a fundamental right of the former and current chairmen of the PTI to hold consultation on the tickets issue. He opposed the admissibility of the application of the Additional Attorney General and Advocate General.

Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb expressed anger over the opposition to the application. “Was the Supreme Court note not enough? Do you want me to write a note against you?” Justice Miangul Hasan said.

The IHC judge said that Advocate General and Additional Attorney General Office are representing the caretaker government and they should remain neutral.

“A terrible system is running under the supervision of the caretaker government as election consultation is not even allowed,” he remarked.

“Does the caretaker government want to derail the elections?” the judge asked.
