ISLAMABAD (ANN): An interesting exchange of dialogue took place between former president Asif Ali Zardari and Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on the occasion of the wedding ceremony of JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son Asjad Mehmood in Islamabad last night.
In an exciting chat with Sanjrani, Zardari said: “What would you do now as (former ISI chief) General Faiz Hameed has gone.”
Sanjrani picked the vibe and promptly replied: “But you are here.”
The PPP co-chairman quickly reminded Sanjrani: “I am here but you have done ‘a lot of things’ to me.”
The former president then advised the Senate chairman: “In politics, you must think.”
Zardari further said: “Their rule does not last forever; ours is here to stay forever.”
The former president and Sanjrani were seated on a table, along with other politicians.
Several important personalities including caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Liaquat Baloch, Akram Durrani, and several others attended the Walima function of Maulana Fazl’s son.
It may be mentioned here that Sadiq Sanjrani had been twice elected as Senate chairman.
Sanjrani was first elected to the post in March 2018, when he was backed by the joint opposition (including the PTI and the PPP among others), to become the first person from Balochistan to be elected to the coveted post.
PTI-backed Sanjrani was again elected Senate chairman in March 2021, defeating PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gilani, who was the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s joint candidate.
