Appeals accepted against rejection of nomination papers

Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Manzoor Kakar & Khushhal Khan allowed to contest upcoming general elections

QUETTA (6AM Report): The Appellate Tribunals comprising judges of Balochistan High Court (BHC) continued hearing of the appeals of candidates against rejection of their nomination papers for the general elections from different election constituencies in Quetta on Thursday.

The Judges of Tribunals including Mr. Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar and Mr. Justice Aamir Nawaz Rana heard the appeals filed by different candidates against rejection of their papers.

The Tribunal heard the appeal of BNP President Sardar Akhtar Mengal against rejection of his nomination papers. After the arguments, the Tribunal allowed Sardar Akhtar Mengal to contest the elections from NA-264.

The lawyers of Sardar Akhtar Mengal including Sajid Tareen and Jawad Ahmed appeared before the court and defended the appeal of their client.

Earlier, the Tribunal had summoned the BNP chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal on the matter of “Iqama” in the court.

An appeal had been filed by the BNP chief with the Appellate Tribunal against rejection of his nomination papers. The tribunal asked about the appeal filed by Sardar Akhtar Mengal that he may appear in the court and explain the matter about “Iqama”.

The Tribunal consisting of Mr. Justice Hashim Kakar issued notices to the parties on an appeal filed against acceptance of papers of PML-N leader and former Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan.

An applicant had filed appeal against acceptance of the nomination papers of Jam Kamal Khan on the plea that he (Jam Kamal) is an “Iqama” (residence permit issued to the foreign nationals to live and work in Arab countries) holder, but he didn’t show “Iqama” in his papers.

The Tribunal fixed January 6 for hearing of the matter issuing notice to both the parties.

Meanwhile, the Tribunal heard the appeals of leader of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Senator Manzoor Ahmed Kakar and Pashtoonkhaw National Awami Party leader, Khushhal Khan Kakar and allowed them to contest the polls.
