Says polls will be held on fixed date even if OIC resolution comes
LAHORE (INP): Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that in this election, God willing, he will contest the ‘Selection’.
During the Lahore campaign, Bilawal visited Bihar Colony and addressed a gathering of the Christian community at Priest Church.
Bilawal said that he has chosen Lahore to change the destiny of this city, province and country as the PPP believes in politics of equality.
The PPP chairman said he would not allow anyone to oppress his brothers and sisters and those who try to do so would have to go through his body first.
He added that his workers were targeted here, a governor of this province was killed, and the party was defamed as part of a conspiracy.
The PPP chairman said there is an impression that the people who have been in power for over 30 years in Punjab have developed the province however it is not as developed as they claimed.
Bilawal said that Lahore is not as developed as the past rulers had claimed.
Expressing his thoughts in Lahore, the former foreign minister said, “I own Lahore; that is why I am contesting the elections from Lahore. Efforts were made to topple us from Punjab’s political landscape.”
“We have given the NFC Award so that Shehbaz Sharif can do work in Punjab. We are of the view that Lahore belongs to us, and we are ready for the elections,” Bhutto-Zardari said. He reiterated the demand for holding transparent elections. “We are not complaining about the level playing field,” Bhutto-Zardari said.
‘Bhutto-Zardari said: “If we follow our 10-point agenda, then we will address the masses’ problems. The PPP represents the entire segment of society.”
Bilawal announced that he had come back to this city to contest elections to take back his rights and to form the government in the country after the general elections.
He said that the late premier Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had laid the foundation of the PPP in Lahore. “During the dictatorship, the PPP workers were killed. As much work needs to be done in Lahore, not in the whole of Pakistan. We are roaming the Lahore streets. There are too much problems here,” he added.
Referring to the recent senate resolution on elections, Bilawal said that the general elections will be held on February 8 even if the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) and UN are moved for delay in polls.
He said that the chief justice had already told that the elections would be held on February 8. “Move ahead, Qazi Sahib we are with you.”
The PPP chairman said that the people will accept the decision made in the elections. “In 2013, more candidates were declared ineligible for the elections. The PPP thinks that Lahore is ours and I am starting the journey from here,” he added.
