EC decides to call consultative meeting on Senate resolution

ISLAMABAD (Online): Election Commission (EC) has decided to call its consultative meeting in connection with Senate resolution.

The resolution seeking postponement of polls adopted by Senate has been received in EC.

Sources said EC has decided to summon meeting with reference to Senate resolution regarding postponement of election.

As per sources the resolution has been sent to law wing of EC for its consideration to postpone the election.

Notification was issued by Joint secretary and Senate secretariat.

The copy of approval of resolution has been sent to President, Prime Minister, Election Commission, ministry of law and justice and other relevant departments.

According to sources it has been directed that EC should change its election schedule forthwith in view of prevailing situation in the country.

Senate secretariat has directed ministry of parliamentary affairs to take immediate action.

It may be mentioned senator Dilawar Khan had tabled resolution in Senate seeking postponement of election.

It was said in the text of the resolution that the security situation in the country is very critical. Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mohsin Dawar have been attacked. The winter weather is at its peak in different areas of country. The situation in different areas of Balochistan and KP is critical. Therefore, the election scheduled for February be postponed.
