QUETTA (6 AM Report): The Government of Balochistan has completed all necessary arrangements and preparations for the upcoming general elections in Balochistan as elsewhere in the country on February 8, 2024.
This was informed by the concerned high ups at the meeting of secretaries committee held regarding preparations of the general elections in the province, here on Friday morning.
The Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan presided over the meeting.
The Provincial Election Commissioner, Ejaz Anwar Chohan and other concerned high ups were also present in the meeting.
The Provincial Election Commissioner and Secretary Local Government Department briefed the meeting about the preparations of elections in Balochistan.
During the course of briefing, it was informed that the provision of IT facilities including Laptop, desktop, printers and multimedia is being ensured to District Returning Officers and Returning Officers in their respective areas.
Moreover, the best arrangements are being ensured for security in the most sensitive and sensitive polling stations all over the province.
The PEC informed that there would be 5067 polling stations and 15002 polling booths for the elections in the province.
The necessary funds have been released for 55 polling stations affected due to the floods in Kachhi, Sibi and Jaffarabad districts.
The final list of the candidates would be issued on January 13, he maintained.
In addition to this, the process of training of the staff would be completed by January 31, 2024.
Moreover, the control rooms would be set up at the Election Commission of Pakistan, Provincial Election Commissioner offices as well as divisional and district levels, it was also informed.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Secretary directed to the concerned to remain effective the monitoring teams formed for monitoring of the elections. The implementation on election code of conduct should be ensured, he directed further.
Similarly, all the basic facilities including water and electricity should also be ensure at the polling stations. In addition to this, the construction of ramps should also be ensured there, he maintained.
The Chief Secretary also issued directives to all the administrative secretaries to ensure their presence at their respective offices. The secretaries should also ensure presence of their subordinate staff in the offices, he maintained.
Shakeel Qadir Khan also directed to remove the complaints of the general public registered at the Pakistan Citizen Portal besides file trekking system and IPMS.
