QUETTA (6AM Report): The caretaker Provincial Minister for Information, Jan Achakzai has stated that the ethnic parties are exploiting the issue of missing persons for the upcoming elections.
These ethnic parties have not only used the issue of missing persons in the past, rather they are doing the same at present, and would do so in future too.
The Minister Information denounced the propaganda being made regarding the missing persons of the province.
The Minister Information was addressing a hurriedly called press conference at Quetta Press club on Wednesday.
The Minister Information particularly referred the statement of Baloch Yakjehtri Committee activist, Dr. Mah Rang Baloch in which she had alleged that more people have been picked up and kidnapped by authorities in Tonsa Sharif and other parts of Balochistan over the last two days.
The Minister rejected these allegations and asked her to produce any report with facts and share with the institutions as they are working and would be investigated.
Jan Achakzai said that Dr. Mah Rang must read the report of missing persons commission that was presented in the Supreme Court the other day.
He said that on orders of the Supreme Court, commission of Inquiry on enforced disappearances was instructed to submit a comprehensive report detailing all orders issued to the law enforcement agencies for the production of missing persons.
He said that the report has silenced many voices including liberals, pro Indian journalists and foreign trolls of a political party who are always repeating the same old rhetoric.
He mentioned that as per the report, in total 10,078 cases were registered out of which 7,781 have been recovered and only 2,297 cases remained uresolved.
He said that the commission concluded that 1,477 cases which are unresolved are due to the kidnapping for ransom and runaways due to the family disputes, which only leaves 820 people who are actually missing.
Jan Achakzai mentioned that in US there are more than 500,000 missing persons while in UK, around 170,000 people are reported as missing and in India, there are more than 350,000 persons are missing.
Whereas in Pakistan only 820 persons have been reported as missing, he maintained.
In Balochistan, out of 2,752 people, 2,284 have been recovered and 468 are only remaining. He said that it has become a nrom of terrorist organizations like TPP and other banned organizations, whenever a new person joins them, they register there name as missing.
Often such missing persons were found dead in an encounter or as suicide bombers, he noted adding that in few instances, these missing persons were found dead in Afghanistan and Iran.
He said that “report of Commission has closed the propaganda shops of many, and let’s see what new logic they bring.”
He said that the ethnic organizations would continue to use the bogey for election and Dr. Mah Rang wants to be Malala 2 so understandably she would be using this propaganda regardless of the facts.
