Sanaullah Zehri cleared to contest election

QUETTA (INP): Quetta’s election tribunals have witnessed a day of dramatic turns, shaping the political landscape for the upcoming 2024 general elections. Benches led by Justices Mohammad Hashim Kakar and Mohammad Amir Nawazrana adjudicated on appeals filed by candidates whose nomination papers were rejected by returning officers.

In a key decision, the tribunal dismissed the appeal against former Balochistan Chief Minister Sardar Sanaullah Zehri from NA-26 Seydir. This clears the path for Zehri to contest the elections, marking a pivotal moment in his political comeback. This decision is likely to have a significant impact on the race in NA-26, raising fresh questions about the political alliances and strategies in the region.

Another notable development saw the tribunal approving the appeal of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, paving the way for his participation in the electoral race. Mengal’s approval adds another major player to the political scene, injecting further complexity and competition into the upcoming polls.

However, the day wasn’t entirely smooth sailing for all candidates. In a blow to PML-N, the tribunal voided the approval of Faiq Jamali’s nomination papers from PB-16. This disqualification throws a wrench into the party’s plans and raises questions about its strategy in the crucial constituency.
