QUETTA (6 AM Report): One-day workshop was held on the District Disaster Risk Management (DDRM) and Data Collection in Sibi on Friday.
Organized by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the workshop was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Sibi, Dr. Khuda-e-Rahim Mirwani, Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Ali Asghar Magsi and officers of other concerned departments including PDMA.
The General Manager Project, PDMA, Ahmed Ali and DDRM Expert, Muhammad Ismail Khan briefed the participants about the identification of the risk threats and preparations of the Disaster risk management plan on the scientific grounds in Sibi and its adjoining areas.
They also informed about the disaster risk management and data collection under the Geological Information System besides other related activities of the institution.
Addressing the workshop, Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to make effective planning for managing risk in case of natural disasters in the ongoing development projects and in future so as to save precious lives of the people.
He also stressed that we should make preparations in advance well before the possible disasters like floods and rains.
He expressed the hope that all line departments would deliver and provide best services with cooperation of PDMA.
The PDMA’s expert Ismail Khan told the workshop that the services of engineering consultants comprising experts have been hired for disaster risk management plan in the province.
