Every possible steps to be taken for free, fair elections in light of ECP directives, vows CS

CS reviews election preparations in Kalat Div:


KHUZDAR (6AM Report): The Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan has reiterated the interim government’s resolve to take all possible steps for conducting free and fair elections in the province.

He said that all the preparations have been completed for the upcoming elections in light of directives of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The Chief Secretary was chairing a high level meeting held to review the arrangements made for the general elections in Kalat Division on Monday. The Chief Secretary along with Additional Chief Secretary Home, Zahid Saleem, Inspector General of Police, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh and Secretary Local Government, Noor Ahmed Pirkani had reached Khuzdar for the purpose where they were received by the Commissioner Kalat, Ali Akbar Baloch.

The Chief Secretary maintained that all possible steps would be taken for conducting free and fair elections in the province.

He said that the basic purpose behind visits to the divisions is to ensure provision of necessary facilities, transport and security in the polling stations.

He said that directives have been issued to provide security as well as other facilities including water, electricity and washrooms in the poling stations.

He on the occasion asked the concerned high ups to take tribal elders into confidence so as to ensure peaceful elections.

The Chief Secretary also directed to the district administration to cooperate with the teams visiting districts for installation of CCTV cameras there.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary was briefed about the arrangements made for elections in Kalat division.

The Commissioner Kalat, Ali Akbar Baloch, Deputy Commissioners of all districts and other concerned high ups were also in attendance at the meeting.
