Highest maternal mortality rate in Balochistan matter of concern, says Malik Abdul Wali Kakar
Governor assures every possible support to historic Lady Dufferin Hospital; says it’s topmost priority of government to provide basic health facilities to masses at doorstep
QUETTA (6 AM Report): The Governor Balochistan, Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has expressed serious concern over the highest maternal mortality ratio in Balochistan as compared to other provinces of country.
He regretfully pointed out that the maternal mortality rate during delivery procedure is highest in the province as compared to other provinces.
He said that every possible resource would be provided to the historic Lady Dufferin Hospital Quetta so as to improve its performance further and thus control the maternal mortality rate in the province.
The Governor was speaking to the members of Lady Dufferin Hospital’s committee who called on him under leadership of former Senator Mrs. Roshan Khursheed Bharucha here at the Governor’s House on Tuesday.
He noted with contentment that Lady Dufferin Hospital has been serving in the healthcare sector in Quetta for last 130 years.
He said that hundreds of thousands people have so far benefitted from the hospital during the long span of time.
He said that it is topmost priority of the government to provide basic health facilities to the masses at their doorstep.
In this regard, services of both public and private hospitals are really commendable, he added.
He particularly appreciated the services of Lady Dufferin Hospital and said that it is an asset for the province.
He said that this hospital can be emerged as an exemplary hospital of the province by equipping it with modern medical equipment.
He said that there’s more space of construction and expansion in the hospital, and new constructions are required too for treatment and care of the patients.
The Governor assured the delegation of his best cooperation for bringing more improvement in the hospital.
