Chief Secretary pledges to make conduct of free, fair & peaceful election successful at every cost

QUETTA (6AM Report): The Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan has stated that the interim provincial government is fully ready to conduct the general elections in the province.

He reiterated the government’s resolve to make conduct of the free, fair and peaceful elections successful at every cost.

He directed the concerned high ups to install close circuit TV (CCTV) cameras at the highly sensitive polling stations.

The Chief Secretary was chairing a high level meeting on preparations of the general elections in the province, here at the Provincial Control Room on Tuesday.

The Chief Secretary visited the Provincial Control Room established in the Information Department for monitoring of the elections in Balochistan.

Those who were present in the meeting were the Provincial Election Commissioner, Muhammad Farid Afridi, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Zahid Saleem, Inspector General of Police, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, Secretary IT Department, Ayaz Mandokhail, Secretary Local Government, Noor Ahmed Pirkani besides the divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Deputy Inspector Generals of Police and Senior Superintendents of Police.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Secretary vowed that we have to make conduct of the free, fair and peaceful elections successful at every cost.

He on the occasion directed to install the CCTV cameras at highly sensitive polling stations.

Earlier, during briefing, it was informed that as many as 65,521 security personnel would be deployed for conducting elections in peaceful manner in the province.

They are included: 19,082 from Army, 31,895 from Police, 14,544 from Levies and 5,094

Similarly, CCTV cameras are being installed at most sensitive, sensitive and normal polling stations all over the province.

It was further informed that supply of ballot papers would be completed in all districts of the province by Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioners briefed the meeting about arrangements made for elections in their respective divisions.

They informed that implementation is being ensured on the security plan and other arrangements made for polling staff and transportation in the divisions.
