ISLAMABAD (INP): Amid the polling process for general elections 2024, there were reports of clashes, and violence at various constituencies between the rival political workers in several cities.
As a result, more than 70 political workers of various political parties got injured and polling process remained suspended for hours.
PLM-N and an independent candidate clash at Kot Sarwar Shaheed in Kot Addu Tehsil of district Muzaffargarh.
At least 16 people were injured when PML-N candidate Amjad Pervaiz and an independent candidate Murtaza Raheem Khar’s workers resort to firing.
Police reached the spot and shifted the injured to nearby hospital. The polling process resumed after the situation came under control. Meanwhile four people were injured in a firing incident at PS66 Gujranwala. Polling was stopped after the incident.
In Taxila NA54, there were reports of a clash between PTI and PML-N workers. More than 10 people got injured. SSP Kainat reached on the occasion and posted additional force around the stations to control the situation.
Meanwhile, a suspected man wearing police uniform tried to enter the polling station in Peshawar and was taken into custody.
A quarrel was seen in NA29 Peshawar. Police said polling process was stopped at Budhbir polling booth after clash between rival political parties. Police resumed the election process after an hour.
A minor fight was reported in NA223 Karachi boys high school polling station. Rangers reached the site and arrested PPP activist for creating law and order situation.
There were reports of fight between political parties in Mastung Balochistan. The polling process resumed after taking the situation under control.
In Chakwal NA59 Talagang, 4 were injured in a clash. In NA79, during fight between PPP and N league, four people got injured.
In Sadiqabad district 5 workers got injured after clash between the political groups. In Balochistan’s Nassirabad area, there was clash between PPP and an independent candidate. 3 people got injured in the accident.
There was report of violence in Laki Marwat district in NA 41 Shah Hassan Khel. 2 people got injure in the clash.
In Hyderabad NA220, activists of two political parties pelted stones at each other and polling process was stopped after firing accident. Police and Rangers controlled the situation.
